About

OTA Playbook is a practical resource for tour, activity and attraction operators who sell through online travel agencies like Viator, GetYourGuide, Klook, Tiqets, Expedia and Trip.com.

It’s written from the operator side of the desk. The people behind it have spent years running distribution for visitor attractions: negotiating commission, loading products, reconciling OTA bookings against the till, and working out which channels bring in profitable visitors and which just move them around.

What you’ll find here

  • Plain-English guides to how each major OTA works, what it charges and what it expects from you
  • Commission and pricing benchmarks, so you can see where your deals sit
  • Practical advice on listings, content, reviews and rate parity
  • Honest takes on when an OTA is worth it, and when direct booking is the better bet

Our approach

We write for operators, not for the platforms. Nothing here is sponsored by an OTA. If we ever use affiliate links or run advertising, we’ll say so clearly, and it will never change what we recommend.

Got a question, a correction or a story from your own OTA experience? Get in touch. We’d like to hear it.
